When Aitan Grossman, a 7th grader from California, first read the kid’s version of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, he felt compelled to do his part to help solve global warming. His love of music inspired him to compose the song “100 Generations” with the hope that it would be sung by children all over the world. And so far children in Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South America have joined in the chorus.

Aitan’s goal of promoting his song is twofold. First, to spread the word about global warming. “I hope the message of the song makes people pay attention and will speak for itself.” Says Aitan. And secondly, to generate money from sales on iTunes to donate to his favorite environmental organizations the World Wildlife Fund and the Alliance for Climate protection.

You can download the song, ”100 Generations”, on iTunes, then visit Aitan’s website, www.kidearth.us, to get the lyrics, as well as choruses in 4 different languages!

Keep up the good work, Aitan!

“The Story of Stuff” is a must-see short video about where all of our “stuff” comes from, how it’s made and where it all ends up. It also reveals what effects the manufacturing, selling and disposing of all our “stuff” has on our planet, our bodies, and even our happiness. With great animations, The Story of Stuff is an engaging, thought provoking and life changing video. Going to the store will never be the same again!

Hey Kids! Too Young to Vote?

You might have been too young to vote in the recent presidential election, but don’t let that stop you from voting with your light switch for Earth Hour 2009. On Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 PM, as many as 1 billion people around the world will turn off their lights in a universal vote to stop global warming. The World Wildlife Fund will present these votes at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark this year. At this important meeting, governments from all over the world will gather to decide how to fight global warming.

Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007. 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. The following year, Earth Hour went global, with 50 million people world wide sending a powerful message against global warming. Important landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Sydney Opera House, Rome’s Colosseum, and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all went black.

This year, you can VOTE EARTH just by switching off your lights.
