It’s Easy Being Green
A wise frog once said “it’s not easy being green”, but here at the Little Green Blog, we’re about to prove him wrong! Being green simply means that your way of life does not harm the planet or the wildlife with which we share it. There are many things that you can do in your small corner of the globe that can contribute to a greener world, from saving energy at home to protecting natural habitats in your community. Here are some important ways you can make a difference, and some tips for getting started today!
1) Save energy. Most of our energy comes from polluting oil and coal. When you save energy, you are saving the planet. Tip: Give those light bulbs a rest! Try to remember to turn off lights when you are not using them.
2) Reduce, reuse, recycle. Our planet offers us many precious resources, and to make them last, we should be careful not to waste them. Tip: When asked “paper or plastic?” at the store just say “neither!” and use reusable tote bags instead.
3) Conserve and protect. The Earth is not just our home, it’s home to millions of species of plants and animals. Tip: Help local wildlife feel at home by planting a tree that is native to your area.
4) Unplug the t.v. and plug into the great outdoors. Getting to know nature is the first step in learning how to protect it. Tip: Grab a friend and go outside!
5) Get involved. Join with others like you who are working to make a difference. Tip: Make going green fun! Start and environmental club with your friends.
Now that wasn’t so hard, was it?
